Chef Christian "Goose" Sorensen brings decades of culinary expertise and experience to the table. Prior to coming to Solera, Sorensen cooked at Mel's Bar & Grill, Starfish and Michael's of Cherry Creek in Denver.
Goose came to Denver from Wyoming where he got his start as a frat-house cook. He studied cooking at the Art Institute of Colorado while working at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and went on to work under culinary expert Michael Degenhart at Tante Louise.
He was later appointed to the chef's post as Starfish, a Cherry Creek restaurant that he soon bought outright. He successfully ran the restaurant for a year before selling it and heading back to his native Wyoming. After a few years, Goose returned to Denver to open Solera Restaurant & Wine Bar.
As the owner and executive chef of Solera, Sorensen mixes flavors in unique and sometimes surprising ways to reflect his New American style of cooking, which essentially means "anything goes." His varied and unique repertoire yields culinary perfection and delight.
The Zagat Survey of restaurants has recognized Goose as one of the best chefs and his restaurant Solera as one of the best in Denver. Sorensen recently took first place at a local chef cook-off sponsored by the American Lamb Board. He has also participated in the Kendall-Jackson Culinary Exchange and hosted a dinner for the Denver chapter of Les Amis d'Escoffier, an invitation-only food organization to which he belongs.
Sorensen has also been featured in Esquire, The New York Times, Bon Appetit, Food & Wine and Wine Spectator.
