Game Day Entertaining with Wisconsin Cheese

As the highest rated television event in the United States each year, the Super Bowl is a great game to plan a party around. Even people who don't normally enjoy football will watch it just for the commercials or the halftime show, so it's the perfect excuse to spend an evening with your sports-loving and non-sports-loving friends. Since these three recipes use three different cooking methods (a slow cooker, the stove and a deep fryer), you can actually prepare a majority of what you need in advance and then cook them all on the day of your party. The common theme? Wisconsin Cheese.

Party Tips

Take a break from the norm with your recipes - Everyone has plenty of chips, dips and chicken wings at their Super Bowl parties, so try something different. I know that soup doesn't normally scream "party dish," but trust me, your guests will absolutely love it. Plus, if you live somewhere in the country like I do where the temperature outside normally hovers below freezing this time of year, things like soup are a great way to warm your guests up.

Make plenty of food - The average Super Bowl game lasts over an hour longer than a regular football game, and there's nothing worse than running out of food in the 4th quarter. Plus, who knows when a few unannounced guests might randomly show up to join the party.

Make sure your guests have enough to drink – I'm talking about both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Just because you don't like diet soda or a certain type of drink doesn't mean your guests don't, so make sure that you have a wide selection of beverages for your guests to choose from.

Plan ahead – Make sure you have everything you need (food, drink and otherwise) ready the day before your party. You don't want to chance having to miss part of the big game because you need to run back to the grocery store after realizing that you forgot something.

Clean as you go – There's nothing worse than having a huge pile of dirty dishes at the end of the night when all you want to do is relax after a long night with friends, so be sure to gather up the cans and bottles periodically as your party progresses and don't be afraid to step away from the game for a minute or two so you can run a load of dishes in the dishwasher.
