In slow cooker or sauce pan, combine boiling water and honey, stirring until blended. Add halved figs, orange zest, orange juice, brandy and spices. If using slow cooker, cook 4 hours on high. For stovetop, cover saucepan and cook 3-4 hours over low simmer. Figs will plump up as they cook and are best stored overnight in their juices before serving.

Refrigerated, these keep almost indefinitely. Serve with Wisconsin blue cheese.
