Meanwhile, melt butter with cream in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low; gradually whisk in mascarpone and cheddar until smooth and melted.

Add sauce to pasta; gently toss to coat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
