Heat oven to 375°F. In large skillet, add butter and melt over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sprinkle in salt and pepper. Stir occasionally and cook until onions are caramelized.

In a large bowl, combine swiss, cream cheese and milk. Stir in onion and garlic mixture, artichoke hearts, and half of the cooked bacon. Pour into greased baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining bacon. Bake for 30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve warm with tortilla chips or crackers.
