Italian Sausage Mac and Cheese

Cooking Instructions

Heat oven to 350°F.

Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente; drain. Meanwhile, sauté onion and red bell pepper in olive oil in a large skillet until crisp-tender. Add sausage; cook and stir until no longer pink. Set aside.

Melt butter in Dutch oven over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually whisk in milk and crushed red pepper flakes. Bring to boil; cook and whisk for 2 minutes or until thickened. Reduce heat to low; gradually stir in Italico™ until melted. Stir in pasta, reserved sausage mixture, basil and parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Transfer to greased 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Bake 30-35 minutes or until top is golden brown and cheese sauce is bubbling around edges.
