Easy Cheddar Mac

Everyone loves a classic aged cheddar macaroni and cheese. But when the classic recipe is simple to make, too … that’s just a little more to love, right?

Cook macaroni according to package directions until al dente; drain.

Meanwhile, sauté onion in 2 tablespoons butter in Dutch oven over medium heat until crisp-tender. Reduce heat to medium-low. Whisk in flour until combined. Gradually whisk in milk, mustard, salt, Worcestershire sauce and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil; cook and whisk for 2 minutes or until thickened. Reduce heat to low; gradually stir in cheddar until melted. Stir in macaroni. Remove from heat.

Transfer to greased 2-quart baking dish. Melt remaining butter; combine with bread crumbs. Sprinkle crumbs over macaroni mixture. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until crumbs are golden brown.


Recipe Tip:
Any brand of Wisconsin aged cheddar cheese can be used.
