Eggnog Sparkle Cookies

Servings: 5 dozen


For Cookies:
1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large egg yolks
1/2 cup purchased eggnog
2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

For Topping:
2.25 ounces (1 jar) red decorating sugar (1/3 cup)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Cooking Directions:

For cookies: In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg yolks until combined. Add eggnog.

Whisk together flour, baking powder and nutmeg; add to butter mixture beating until thoroughly combined. Refrigerate dough 2 hours or until firm.

For topping: Combine topping ingredients on paper plate. Roll dough into 1-inch diameter balls; roll in topping mixture. Place 2 inches apart on lightly buttered cookie sheet.

Bake in a 400°F oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
