Snack Time Oat Bars

3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter
1/3 cup white Karo syrup
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups oatmeal
1 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter

Cooking Directions:

In a large saucepan over low heat, melt and stir butter, syrup, brown sugar and vanilla. Stir in oats, coconut and nuts. Continue to cook over low heat, stirring occasionally for 3 minutes. Using a buttered spatula, press mixture evenly into a buttered 9 inch square pan. Cool for 15 minutes. In a small saucepan, melt chips and peanut butter. Spread over oatmeal mixture. Cool completely and cut into 1 1/2 inch squares.
