This Spicy Italian

This Spicy Italian is an Italian American grilled cheese sandwich packed with four types of deli meats then grilled to perfection with creamy mozzarella and asiago cheeses.

In small mixing bowl, combine pesto sauce and sweet and spicy wing sauce. Set aside.

Slice baguettes in half lengthwise and butter outside of all four slices. Place 2 slices of the buttered baguette into a cold grill pan and spread half the spicy pesto sauce onto each slice. Sprinkle 1/2 cup each of asiago and mozzarella over the bottom slice only followed by half of the 4 deli meats. Layer half of the drained sun-dried tomatoes and pepperoncini on top of the meat. Top with 1/2 cup each of asiago and mozzarella and add the top slice of bread. Repeat all steps for second sandwich.

Turn heat to medium and press one sandwich down with a heavy pan or spatula. Cook for 3 minutes. Carefully flip the sandwich over and grill the other side for additional 3-4 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Remove sandwich and repeat steps for the second sandwich.

When both sandwiches are done place them side by side in the grill pan, cover with lid and cook an additional 2 minutes to heat through. Cut sandwiches in half and serve with chips. Enjoy!


Recipe Tip:
Any brand of Wisconsin asiago, mozzarella or gouda cheese can be used.
